Valentine’s Day is approaching and while it is a time well known for showering others with love it is also a great time to focus on yourself. Self care is so important if we want to go and be there for others. We can’t pour from an empty cup. So here are 10 ways to practice self care this Valentine’s day (or any day really!).

Spend time reading your bible
What a perfect way to practice self care. Filling your spirit is something we should be doing every day. And it should especially be done on a day when you want to focus on you. Here is a great devotional if you aren’t sure where to start when it comes to reading your bible. Keeps it simple but still packs so much into each day!
Take a bubble bath
Need I say more? Grab some bath bombs a good book or whatever you enjoy and take a soak.

Go get your nails or hair done
I personally do not have the capacity to get my nails or hair done on a regular basis. So this is an ultimate sign of self care in my opinion. If you are able, go out and get pampered. Get a pedicure or get your hair done. And enjoy it!

Get a Massage
Another sweet treat. When is the last time you went and got a massage? Me? Before kids…actually before marriage. If you want to show yourself some love treat yourself to an hour of pure bliss.
Cook your favorite dinner (or order in if that’s your jam!)
I don’t know about you but I have some meals that just get me excited. Some are ones I order from a restaurant and others are ones I cook myself. Either way I find treating myself to one of my favorite meals to be such a treat!
Buy yourself some flowers or a new plant
I love getting flowers and instead of waiting to be gifted them why not just grab them yourself? I also love adding a new plant baby to my home! These are both great ideas to practice self care and spruce up your home.

Go for a walk – or whatever your favorite physical activity is.
Get moving! It’s such a great thing to do to lift your mood and boost your energy! I know I always feel so great after moving my body even if it is just for 30 minutes or so. It can be whatever form of activity you enjoy- just go and do it.
Start a new book
My favorite way to practice self care is reading a new book. I love finding a cozy spot, bundling up with a blanket and tea and getting lost for hours. If you need some good books to read check out this post on my top 8 christian books!

Watch an old favorite movie
I love watching movies. And I am known for watching the same movies over and over. It’s so much more relaxing to me to watch a movie I’ve seen before because I know exactly what is going to happen. This is a great excuse to pop some popcorn and indulge in an old favorite!
Do something creative
I am a creative person so I love a good DIY or craft project. This is a great way to practice self care. It can be as simple as coloring in an adult coloring book (Here is a great one to try). Or it can be making something by chrocheting, doing a fun project in your home, or finding a cute craft to try on Pinterest. Go crazy and do what you enjoy.
I hope this list is super helpful if you are hoping to show yourself some love this Valentine’s Day! You can do just one of these things or try to squeeze them all into your day. Whatever makes you happy!

That tray for your bathtub is awesome! I need to get one.
I love the idea of treating MYSELF for Valentine’s Day!
These are all great ways to take care of ourselves. I especially love anything with pampering myself because with 2 kids I have very little time for myself.
I totally get that struggle!
Self care is so important and so easy to forget to do. Awesome post!
I completely agree. Thank you!
There are so many of these things I need to do, but never feel like I have time! I always feel better after going on a walk, but it has been so cold out! I am going to look for a new book to read I think.
Reading is always a great choice to me!
Thanks for the inspiring self-care ideas. Enjoy the beautiful things around us and tell our subconscious mind that everything is okay 🙂

It’s funny because even though I know how important self-care is, I’m really lousy at practicing it. These are great tips that I need to work into my life!
